How to Save Money While Ordering T-shirts

Shopify

If you’re new to ordering T-shirts (or any other screen-printed product for that matter), knowing where to start and how to get the best deal might seem a little daunting but not to worry! We’re sharing 6 tips on how to get the most bang for your buck when placing your first order!

And remember, if you have an idea and need help figuring out which of these tips can be applied to your project, email me at info@stayunratedpressco.com! I’ll explore one or more of these options, hitting your budgetary needs or getting as close as possible!

  • PROVIDE VECTOR ARTWORK
    • A great way to save money is to provide artwork in a vector format. Vector file formats include .AI, .ESP, .SVG, and .PDF. Any other type of file will need to be processed by a graphic designer and will result in a design fee.

  • ORDER IN LARGER QUANTITIES
    • Your screen printer will most likely offer price breaks in quantity brackets. At Stay Unrated Press Co., we start at 12 - 24 minimum with price breaks at 25 - 50, 51 - 100 and so on.

  • SELECT FEWER INK COLORS
    • Each color in your design equals more screens, more ink and more labor. By selecting a T-shirt color that can be used to substitute a color in your design, you’ll minimize your final total.

  • PRINT ON LIGHT-COLORED T-SHIRTS
    • Dark-colored tees typically require an underbase (white ink) so that the ink color resting on the top really pops. Unless your design uses white ink, you may be charged an additional color fee when printing on a dark garment.

  • REQUEST AFFORDABLE APPAREL
    • Pricing varies on T-shirt brands and styles. If your budget doesn’t allow for higher-end materials, we can research comparable styles at more affordable prices and help meet your needs.

  • PRINT IN ONE LOCATION
    • Printing in multiple locations (ie, front and back of a T-shirt) can cut into your budget. If your budget allows for multi-location printing, that's great! But if not, you can keep this in mind when planning out your design.

Hopefully this information will help you on your quest for custom printing!
